Cassidy brings to his praxis the lessons of classical mastery, draughtsmanship, and calligraphy. Each work is the result of a continuous cycle of making and remaking that echoes an elusive sense of past imagery, reminiscent of the archeology of dreams existing within Jung’s concept of the collective unconscious.
He approaches each work with a visceral physicality, evident in the expressive gestures and flowing compositions of his larger works and, at the smaller scale, where the precision of marks made by the movement of fingers and wrist translates into an energetic artistic presence.
Cassidy’s background includes studies in fine art at Australia’s National Art School, Communication Design at James Cook University, design for numerous acclaimed feature films, along with exhibitions in Australia and Indonesia.
The artist now lives in Bali
